And I wanted yarn. HA!

I've got one of the best husbands around. We really are best friends, and would rather spend time with each other than with anyone else.
Mother's day ends up being kind of like another anniversary for us. It's a day to celebrate what our love for each other has created... our children. I'm daily grateful that God made me a mother. My children are my treasure.
I planted links to different yarn shops in hubby's favorites folder, hoping he'd get a sweater kit, or gift certificate for my Mother's day gift. I'm glad I didn't get what I asked for. Instead, he bought something I've always wanted, a string of pearls! (Real ones!)I'm smitten all over again!
This pic was taken on Mother's day. It's my favorite that we've taken in a long time.

Incidentally, I'm the opposite of an anorexic. I'm always thinking I'm skinnier than I am, then I'm shocked when I see a picture of myself and I look so chubby!

This week in knitting

I've done a little of everything this week.
I've blocked:

I've knit: (secret knitting, so can't show it).

I've joined:

(Do me a favor, Ok? I'd like for no one else to come up with any irresistable knit along things for a little while. I've joined enough, but don't want to miss out on anything really fun!)

And last, but definitely not least, I won:

I won this yummy pretty sock yarn from
Jennifer for coming closest in a guess of the yarn's name. She has an etsy shop, and is running a sale for Mother's Day, so Go Look!

Tudor Roses

I've been waffling around for a little while; wanting to learn faire isle, but afraid to try. It looks so impressive, I keep thinking that there's some kind of magic to it. My knitting hero, Marina ,
finally asked me exactly what I was waiting for, which was just the kick in the pants that I needed. I went straightaway and joined this:

This was very timely for me, because I happened to win this book on Ebay last month, and have been enamored with many of the sweaters in the book. I'm a history buff as well, so the whole thing just suits me to a T. I haven't picked the sweater that I'm starting with yet, but I'm committed, and looking forward to it.

In other knitting news, I've finished knitting all of the pieces of Bless, but we've had badly needed rain all week, so picture taking is useless. I've been procrastinating on the blocking and seaming (my least favorite tasks), but I'm going to make myself get started on it tonight.
I'm currently working on my second of the Rainforest Jasper socks.

I've lost my momentum on the destashing. It's a lot of work to take all of those pictures and post stuff, and answer emails, etc. I'm glad I've done it, because I've now got one empty bin, but I've taken a bit of a break from it during the last week. I need to start up again soon, because I've got several more bins staring me in the face that I'd like to get out of my office/library.

No longer a "pet free" home

Meet Lizzie

My older daughter is a real animal lover, (she wants her own farm one day). We've promised and promised that after we got in this house, she'd get cat. The promised day has finally arrived.
We named her Lizzie, which you will understand if you know Pride and Predjudice.
Lizzie, in the novel, has "fine eyes".

My crafting life has a quilt block to show.

This is my May block for the Saturday Sampler program at my LQS. I used to be all about quilting, then Knitting hit. I'm trying to get at least a little of my quilting mojo back, but it's not really working. I have SO many quilts that I want to make or finish while decorating the new house. I have even more fabric bins than yarn bins. But quilting never seems to call my name during my free time any more.
Maybe one of these days.

There is knitting to show, but I'll save that for another day.
