SECRET PAL 7

Trying to type this fast on a library computer. We're down at the beach for the week (which is giving me serious spring fever...), so I have no computer access. I'm so excited about the beginning of the Secret Pal 7 swap! I'm dying to see if I've been assigned a secret pal yet. I want to do some secret pal shopping while I'm here.

1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? I'm a serious yarn snob. I like natural fibers, and have a healthy distaste for novelty yarn.

2. Do you spin? Crochet? I crochet, but mostly for edgings and baby blankets. I want to learn to spin.

3. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in? In their original packages in a basket.

4. How long have you been knitting? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced? I'd say I'm an intermediate knitter. I know how to do lots of thiings, but still wish for a more professional looking outcome. Especially want to learn to do a better job with my finishing.
5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list? I'm going to create an Amazon wish list when I get home.

6. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)Fruity and floral scents.

7. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy? I have a SERIOUS chocolate tooth! (I prefer milk chocolate). From what I hear, chocolate is considered a health food now :-)

8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? I've done nearly everything that involves a needle. I prefer knitting and quilting to everything else, though.

9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)No MP3 player. I like classical and contemporary Christian music.

10. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand? I prefer spring and fall colors.

11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?NO pets, but I have 6 great children. The oldest is 14, the youngest is nearly one month old. I have an awesome hubby (which probably goes without saying, or I wouldn't have the 6 children!)

12. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos? I wish I was braver about accessorizing! It's something I've never worn much of. Probably this is compounded by the fact that it doesn't get very cold here in NC, so we dont' need lots of layers. I'm still wanting to try Clapotis, even though that's old news in the blog world.

13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? Wool, cotton. I love Koigu, Lornas Laces, Sockotta, Lamb's pride.

14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like? ACRYLIC!

15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s? sweaters, sweaters, sweaters, plus socks.

16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit? I rotate obsessions, but lately it's sweaters.

17. What are you knitting right now? Rowan's "Bless", and Jaywalker socks. Finishing up Rowan's "Tiffany" that I started last year.

18. Do you like to receive handmade gifts? Of Course! Who doesn't?

19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Circular, definitely.

20. Bamboo, aluminum, plastic? Aluminum

21. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift? Yep, both.

22. How did you learn to knit? At a class at my LYS.

23. How old is your oldest UFO? 1 year.

24. What is your favorite animated character or a favorite animal/bird? Don't like any animated characters. Hmm, I don't even know what to say about the animal part! Just not my thing, I guess.

25. What is your favorite holiday? Christmas

26. Is there anything that you collect? Yarn and fabric ;-)

27. What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have? Interweave knits.

28. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? My want to try list is:
Needles- Brittany rosewood dpns for socks.
Yarn:
Stahl Limbo
Anything from Phildar
Blackberry ridge farm yarn
The famous "Socks that Rock" yarn
Books:
Poetry in stitches (There's a leaf cardigan that I really want to challange myself with one day from this book.)

29. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn? Fair Isle. Haven't done that yet. I want to learn to spin as well.

30. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements? Yep, My foot is 9 inches around and 9 inches from toe to heel.

31. When is your birthday? (mm/dd) September 16
I also love to read and go for long walks. Jane Austen is my favorite author, and I tend to like the old books best. I dream of visiting Europe one day. Especially England, so I can see the real places that my favorite authors wrote about!
I always thought I'd be a widely traveled person, but children seem to have taken the place of that dream. I've lived in Korea for a short time, and went to Hawaii on my honeymoon, and that has been the extent of my world travels.
I'll try to update this better when I have more time!
Looking forward to getting to know you, secret pal!
